The Local Vibe – August

  • Huge congrats to local XP League team, Madison Marvels, who took home the XP League North American Championship in Valorant! (Local athlete, Journey Szudy named Tournament MVP. This is an amazing accomplishment, we can’t wait to see the continued success and growth of this organization.  

 

  • The first Esports and IT summer camp recently concluded at MPS! This was an excellent team effort between a variety of local partners (New Horizons of WI, MKEA, MPS Foundation and Mike Dahle – to name a few) that saw individuals ranging from middle to school getting foundational skills in the two categories. There is a follow-up cohort taking place in November due to capacity issues and the goal will be to continue to offer programming and opportunities into the future! Take a look at a few of the places the cohort was covered in the local news, below:

 

  • If you haven’t already, make sure to check out the “2022 Who’s Who in Wisconsin Esports” article that was published this month. The first of it’s kind effort was created to help celebrate schools and organizations who are helping lead the way. 

 

  • Congratulations to UW-River Falls on the hiring of their first ever esports head coach, Dylan Gentilcore! Read more about his background and the schools future plans below.

 

  • Congratulations to our monthly winners of the Screamin’ Sicilian Pizza Party Sweepstakes! As a reminder, a local team will be chosen each month to receive up to $150 in pizza and merchandise, courtesy of our partners at Palermo’s/Screamin’ Sicilian.
