The Local Vibe – March

The Local Vibe – March

  • On Saturday, February 19th Concordia Universities esports program hosted it’s first Super Smash Bros tournament, live and in person on campus! It was a terrific initial event, with 34 competitors from both the HS and University ranks. Coach Lewis Smith had this to say ” Smash is unlike any other esport in that it is supposed to be played in-person and offline. There is a void of these events in the Milwaukee area, so we are lucky enough to have a great team or students and available space to help fill that void. It was great to see top tier players from across the state come and compete, including non-students and students from college and high school.  Also, we made it completely free for any high schoolers. It is unfortunate how little opportunity there is for high schoolers to compete. They are just as good as college players, but don’t have access to stages in order to display that and help them play at the next level. We are trying to be part of the solution to that”

  • The recently formed Wisconsin Collegiate Rocket League (WCRL) is excited to announce their inaugural LAN event/tournament is taking place on Saturday, April 30th – hosted at MSOE. The event is particularly special, as the community comes together to honor the late Zach Ice (A Carthage esports  student athlete at who passed away in 2021) and will feature a dedicated MVP trophy in his name. The event is being helped/sponsored by local media company Foureva Media. 16 teams will battle to the end, only one will go home with the prize pool and trophy!

  • The inaugural Wisconsin Collegiate Rainbow 6 State Championship is being held at Carthage College on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022. Teams will be determined at the conclusion of the regular season in early March. Semi-Final 1 will start at 12:00pm, Semi-Final 2 at 2:00pm. Championship at 5:00pm.

  • The Echelon Racing League concluded its season with style. The League, which has featured 8 weekends of high octane racing, hosted its Championship race on February 12th live at the Life Time Fitness gym in Brookfield, WI. Congrats to all of the participants and ERL on a terrific season!
